Our range of Concealed Hettich Hinges are ever popular and we have learnt a few things from selling them to customers over the last few years. Below is our guide to navigating this complicated world and our break down to make it easier for you to identify which hinge is the right one for you.
There are 3 main types of application, , and :
Overlay
Half Overlay
Inset

Drill Patterns
The next thing, is to identify the Drilling Pattern and Installation Method of the hinge hole(s) drilled into the door itself:
You will notice in the above images there is very little difference between them all, and several hinges fit one drilling pattern type.
All the 35mm diameter holes are set at the same position, only the depth changes between each hinge type. Drill Types A,B & C are all screw in hinge applications.
The two other smaller holes (10mm radius) demonstrated in schematics D and E, are again the same distances (to the centre), but the depth of those holes different too.
Distance “C” is 5mm (explained further on in Hinge Plates and shown in schematic F).
Note: All HKUK doors are drilled to schematic A, and 98mm from the top and bottom of the door if combining doors with Clicbox cabinets. All HKUK Cabinets are drilled for Overlay & Half Overlay hinge plate positioning. (See Overlay Schematic images G+ H)
Hinge Plates
The drilling pattern for Hinge Plates has been a standard 37mm from the front of the cabinet and 32mm apart for some years for Overlay Doors (Image G).
Please note that these measurements are to the centre of the holes using a 5mm drill bit, and 12mm deep for Hinge Plate 9075081 (see image H).
The centre point between these two holes from either the top or the bottom of the cabinet can vary (yellow arrow).
This is one of the dimensions used to calculate the hight for hinge holes to be drilled into doors. For Inset Hinges see Image H Below.
The Hettich 9075081 Hinge Plate (stocked by HKUK) is set at 1.5mm. This means that when the hinge is sat on the hinge plate, the hinge is sat 1.5mm from the cabinet wall.
As most overlay kitchen doors are usually between 4 – 5mm smaller in width than the cabinet width, and the hinge itself has between +2 & -2mm adjustment, we have found that the 1.5mm works in most circumstances, especially when the 35mm hinge hole is drilled 5mm (measurement “C” though all drill patterns) from the edge of the door.
If your 35mm hole is not drilled at 5mm from the edge of the door, consider the alternative hinge plates mentioned below.
The 9075081 Hinge Plate fits all the hinges we sell that require a hinge plate.
Other hinge plates are available at special request. These are only available in 0mm (9071665), 3mm (9071667) & 5mm (9071668).
Just to confuse us even more, Hettich produce 2 product codes for the same hinge (Alternative Code). This is purely down to the quantities the hinges are supplied in.
Quantities ordered of 50 hinges are one code, and quantities of 200 is another code. Unfortunately, the numbers embossed on the hinges themselves are individual part numbers that make up the hinge.

* Some Integrated Fridge / Freezers (F/F)require the cabinet door to be hinged to the cabinet. Most of these types of F/F do not require soft close. The main reason for this hinge is because it is thin in comparison to the soft close, and given that the F/F manufacturers want to make the unit as big as they can, it means there is little room for the hinge itself. We have found this hinge works in most cases. Consider hinge plate 9071665 0mm for an extra 1.5mm room.
Door Hinges FAQ’s
Can the hinges with a drill pattern B or C fit in drill pattern A?
Yes
Can drill pattern A hinges fit in either B or C?
Yes, but with adaption. You will need to drill your 35mm hole deeper to accommodate drill pattern A hinges.
Will drill pattern E hinges fit in drill pattern D
Yes
Will drill pattern D hinges fit in drill pattern E?
Yes, but with adaption. You will need to drill the 2 x 10mm hole to the required depth.
I have drill pattern D on my door, but want to use drill pattern A hinges, can I do this?
Yes, but with adaption. You will need to fill the existing 10mm holes with an appropriate filler for screwing in. The hinge door plate is quite large and will cover the filler.
